Cosmos Institute, Inc. ("we," "us," "our") operates cosmos-institute.org. This policy explains what information we collect and how we handle it. If you have questions, email info@cosmos-institute.org.

The short version

We don't collect personal information from visitors to our website. We use Plausible Analytics, which doesn't use cookies and doesn't track individuals. If you email us or sign up for our newsletter, we'll have your email address. That's it.

What we collect

• Website analytics. We use Plausible Analytics to understand how our website is used. Plausible doesn't use cookies, doesn't collect personal data, and doesn't track visitors across sites. It gives us aggregate statistics like page views, top pages, and referral sources. See Plausible's data policy for details.

• Email correspondence. If you email us, we'll have a record of that message and your email address. We use this only to reply to you and conduct the business of the Institute. We don't share it with third parties or use it for marketing.

• Provided information.

  • If you sign up for our newsletter (hosted on Substack) or apply to one of our programs, we'll have the information you submit. Newsletter subscriber data is processed by Substack on our behalf (see Substack's privacy policy) and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.

  • Program application data is used to evaluate your application, and to administer the program. As part of running our programs, we may share applicant or participant information with relevant third parties for example, funders, collaborators, or potential employers when we think it could be useful to you. We'll ask before doing this where practical, and you can tell us at any time not to share your information by emailing us.

What we don't do

• We don't collect names, addresses, phone numbers, or payment information through this website

• We don't use cookies for tracking or advertising

• We don't run targeted advertising or build profiles about visitors

• We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18

Your rights

If you've corresponded with us and want us to delete that correspondence, email us and we'll do it. Depending on where you live — for example, the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Canada, California, or other US states with privacy laws — you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you, or to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us and we'll honor any valid request.

International visitors

Our servers are in the United States. If you're visiting from elsewhere, the limited information described above (essentially: your email, if you choose to send us one) will be processed in the US.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If we ever start collecting more information than what's described here, we'll update this notice.
